How To Maintain the Best Inverter Battery with Water Top-Ups?

You must be aware that inverters work on chemical reactions to convert direct current into alternating current. This process requires some chemical reaction inside the inverter for which acid is used. The rate of this acid reduces as it becomes over-concentrated over time. This happens due to the lack of water inside the chambers of the battery which creates an imbalance between acid and water. Hence, your inverter needs water to dilute the sulphuric acid inside the inverter. The water level top-off in the inverter ensures that the sulphuric acid is diluted enough and doesn’t lose its effect over time. 

Distilled Water for Inverter Batteries 

Another thing to keep in mind is that you should always go for distilled water for inverter batteries. Distilled water is nothing but the purest form of water. It doesn’t contain ions that regular water does. This is the reason why distilled water is used in the best inverter battery, car batteries, and even in the manufacturing of medicines.  If you use regular water for your batteries, the ions will clog the electrodes and form a layer. This will cause a chemical reaction that will produce current and hamper your batteries. So, it is best to choose distilled water that can keep your inverter batteries in the best condition. Distilled water ensures the smooth functioning of the batteries. 

Steps to Fill Distilled Water in The Inverter Battery

 Given below are some simple steps which you can follow to I

1. Check for the level of distilled water in the battery by looking at the water level indications. The indicators tell you the amount of distilled water that is there in the battery. There are two marks- a red mark and a green mark. The lower level has a red mark while the upper level has a green mark.

2. In case the indicator shows a low water level, then you can fill the water. Here you need to take care that the inverter is turned off and the power switch is also off. 

3. Now remove the water toppings vent plugs and place a funnel in the hole. Now, you can slowly pour the distilled water into the chamber.  

4. Continue the same for all the chambers. The water should be filled to the green mark. 

5. Once everything is done, place the vent plug back.

6. Lastly, clean the battery and vent plugs with a clean cloth.

7. Once everything is done, you can turn the power back on.

Taking care of the battery is one of the most essential jobs if you plan to buy a power backup system.
